FBCWA Website Redesign - SEEKING FEEDBACK
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE TO WOODLOT LICENSEES – I AM SEEKING FEEDBACK ON THE RE-DESIGN OF THE woodlot.bc.ca WEBSITE.
The site serves many audiences, licensees, directors, WPDC, government, general public, media, which makes it challenging. The last design focused on providing resources to licensees and an archive for FBCWA governance documents. Now that this content is developed on the website, the focus of the re-design is to simplify the home page appearance with more of a focus promoting woodlot licences to the public.
The challenge still remains – how to best provide resources to woodlot licensees? Currently to access the resources for managing a woodlot licence, a licensee goes to the very top menu and selects Woodlot Management, which then has a drop down menu. This was initially a secure section of the site, along with the FBCWA content that could only be accessed by entering a username and password. Now, only the FBCWA content requires log in (see below).
I would appreciate feedback from you, the users of the site. Please distribute to licensees to respond to the following set of questions. Just respond to me lisa@communications.bc.ca and provide answers within the content of the email following each question.
There has been discussion on Woodlot Management (licensee content) being a secure section again as there are guides and checklists designed specifically for licensees. What would you recommend - A secure section of content housing woodlot licensee content only or an unsecured section open to everyone? Note: While ease of access and not having to remember passwords may be preferrable, security of content should also be a consideration.
___________________________________When you see Woodlot Management does it mean Resources for Managing a Woodlot to you? Can you think of a better heading?

I am recommending the Publications & Library (tab on the current site) be changed to Resources for the Public content (i.e. WL Program Report, Communicator) as that is the standardized term used today. The Almanac would then be moved to Woodlot Management, as it is specific and often technical content for licensees. Do you have any issue with these recommended changes? If so, what would you recommend?
